Another characteristic that can sometimes be used to help distinguish bacterial spots from fungal spots is the shape of the spot. Bacterial lesions are often delimited (bordered) by veins (see arrow) and thus often have an angular appearance. While fungal lesions can also be delimited by veins, more often they are not and thus have a more irregular shape.
