ABIOTIC CAUSES OF DISEASE

Some plant diseases or abnormalities are not caused by biological agents such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, phytoplasmas or nematodes. These diseases can be caused by a variety of ABIOTIC (non-biological) factors. Often plant abnormalities caused by abiotic factors are called INJURIES.

Common abiotic factors that can influence plant health include nutritional problems (including nutrient deficiencies or toxicities), pesticide exposure, environmental pollutants, and adverse weather.
