DISEASES OF SOYBEAN – VIRUS DISEASES/GREEN STEM SYNDROME

During the latter part of the growing season, symptoms of viral diseases may include delayed maturity and a reduction in seed yield. The name “green stem syndrome” has been coined because often the first symptoms that growers note when viruses are a problem is the occurrence of green plants in a field that has otherwise matured (as in the photo above). Often leaves blades fall from the plants, but petioles remain green and attached.
